SASMI
What is SASMI
SASMI is an independent trust fund set up to stabilize employment and earnings in the sheet metal industry and to protect members against related loss or interruption of earning power. It does this by providing certain benefits to sheet metal workers.
SASMI Core Benefits
The core of SASMI is the Supplemental Unemployment Benefits (SUB Benefits) and Underemployment Benefits. These payments are made to sheet metal workers who are involuntarily unemployed/underemployed. These benefits can supplement any state unemployment benefits to help them maintain their home and family during down times in work. SASMI can pay members local health and welfare premiums if they are out of work and are threatened with loss of health benefits during unemployment or disability. SASMI also pays a Severance Benefit to help the transition if they permanently leave the Sheet Metal Industry.
News And Information
The Retiree Health Premium Benefit is restricted to premium reimbursement to encourage you to maintain a general health policy after retirement, but the benefit amount is limited due to varying retiree medical benefits in local unions participating in SASMI.
